We are pleased to announce some new products to our increasing range of histology consumables.
There is now a heated tissue tamper to complement our range of heated accessories for embedding. The tamper is fully compatible with our heated forceps unit.
The heated tamper has been developed by experienced histotechnologists to aid with those pieces of tissue that need to be encouraged to lay flat in the mould during the embedding process, i.e. prostate cores, super-mega prostates, and small biopsies that need to be carefully orientated at the same level in the block.

Precision Cover Glasses
We are also introducing a range of precision cover glasses (thickness 1.5H) for high performance microscopes.
Modern high-performance microscope objectives are designed to be used with cover glasses of a thickness of 170 μm. The quality of the cover glass, in particular the compliance with the nominal thickness, has thereby a crucial impact on the imaging quality. Variations of thickness reduce the image contrast and result in image defects, most notably in spherical aberration. We produce high-precision cover glasses with thickness No. 1.5H featuring an exceptionally accurate thickness of 170 μm ± 5 μm. This new generation of cover glasses are highly recommended for objectives with high numerical aperture and high resolution, for example:
- dry objectives: N.A. > 0.7
- objectives for water immersion: N.A. > 1.0
- objectives for glycerol immersion: N.A. > 1.2
- objectives for oil immersion: N.A. > 1.3
- made of chemically resistant borosilicate glass D 263™ M of the first hydrolytic class
- absolutely colourless, perfectly clear, suitable for fluorescence microscopy in compliance with DIN ISO 8255
- thickness No. 1.5H (0.170 mm ± 0.005 mm)
- approved for in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) applications according to IVD directive 98/79/EC, with CE - mark and batch number for comprehensive information and traceability
